Clyde Coast & Garnock Valley Crematorium Gains Top Marks from Scottish Government Inspector
Clyde Coast & Garnock Valley Crematorium has been recognised as ‘first-class’ in their most recent Annual Inspection from the Scottish Government’s Senior Inspector of Crematoria.
Annual inspections of crematoria in Scotland were introduced in 2016 as part of the Burial and Cremation (Scotland) Act, which provides a modern and comprehensive legal framework, setting higher standards in burial and cremation practices in Scotland.
The Senior Inspector ensures that all crematoria adhere to current legislation and best practice, that all crematorium registers and statutory documentation is administered in the correct manner and to the highest standards, and he also provides valuable direction to crematoria managers on policy developments.
In his concluding remarks following his inspection of Clyde Coast & Garnock Valley Crematorium, Bert Swanson QPM, Scottish Government Senior Inspector of Crematoria said:
“As has been the case since its opening in 2018, the inspection found there to be no shortcomings in any area of the cremation process with good practice observed throughout the different stages.
“The small team at Clyde Coast and Garnock Valley Crematorium continue to provide a first-class service to the local community and beyond, a recent example being their Open Day which attracted in excess of 30 attendees.
“The Manager welcomes such visits as it helps to inform, educate, and demystify the cremation process.
In closing, Bert Swanson added that he; “would like to congratulate the team at Clyde Coast and Garnock Valley Crematorium on their outstanding success at the recent Scottish Funeral Awards.”
