Total Donated to Local Hospices Reaches £28,000.00
We are incredibly proud to announce that we have made an £8000.00 donation towards Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) to help support the crucial and sensitive end of life care that they provide for families across the country.
This is our fourth significant donation to local hospices since we opened for services last summer – bringing the total donated to an incredible £28,000.00
The funds have been raised through our membership of the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management National Recycling of Metals Scheme, with the £8000.00 donation officially presented to Hayley Smith of CHAS at the crematorium.
The Institute’s Recycling of Metals Scheme is a national initiative and works by sensitively recovering metals and orthopedic implants following cremation with the consent of bereaved families.
Philip Ewing, Manager of the Clyde Coast & Garnock Valley Crematorium, said:
“As professionals assisting the bereaved, we recognise the financial challenges that organisations supporting families at their most difficult and vulnerable time face.
“This £8000.00 raised for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland will directly benefit the many families that they support every day, of every year.
“Our heart-felt thanks go to each and every family who consented to take part in the Institute’s national recycling scheme, without whom life-changing donations such as the one we are making today would not be possible.
“This is the fourth significant donation that we have made to our local hospices since we opened 16-months ago, bringing the total raised to an incredible £28,000.00
Hayley Smith, Assistant Community Fundraiser at Children’s Hospices Across Scotland said:
“A huge thank you to Clyde Coast and Garnock Valley Crematorium who chose CHAS as one of their four charities to benefit from their metal recycling scheme. It costs £12,750 to fund a day’s care across all of our services so this incredible £8,000 gift will have a huge impact across Scotland. I was so humbled to hear how supportive the crematorium is of charities within the community and I was honoured to be invited along to meet the team and accept this cheque. I hope the relationship is a long lasting one’
